Okay, if there's a big climb-the-mountain fest going on, I have a very important question, before we split the party and possibly end up scattered across a country again.

How many folks can do remote portals, and can someone explain the trick to me? Last thing we need's another Bando where there's only two people who can do the thing and we need to regroup in a hurry.

Looks like you're gonna have company soon, in that case. Alternately, if anyone in your group can do long-distance portals you can bring some of us up the short way.

I used my portals for a lunchbreak today, but I can bring people up tomorrow.

How's it work? I can do a lot of the work by way of teleporting, but that's just me, not 'oh crap we need sudden transport.'

And given the way Tower's last jaunt went, I think 'oh crap we need sudden transport' is likely enough to do the prep work now.

The way it was explained to me was that you can't just create a portal blindly - you have to either have a visual, or someone you can use as a focal point.

Makes sense. God only knows where you might end up otherwise.

Yeah - and even "portal to wherever this person is" has its risks if you don't know what the conditions are like where they are.

At least the network makes it easier to get a good look at wherever you're portalling people to, provided someone's actually there to give you visuals.

Sure thing. My room's always open in Liminal, these days - if the pavilion thingy's still there, the door should be there. Go ahead in if you beat me to it, just watch out for Raidou's cat. I don't think she's very happy that he's not on hand.

I don't have that ability, and if you do find someone willing to teach it, I would be intrigued.

However, if rapid travel is needed and it's something of an emergency, I've finally managed to more or less make the Shadow Roads bend to my will at last. I can bring one brave soul with me.

[Technically Tybalt could bring more, but just one passenger would already tax his strength horribly at any great distance so best not to let on to the technical truth.]

What, like teleporting? Got that covered, it's just not very good for moving multiple people.

Considerably farther than teleporting, as far as my own experiments have proven, but similar enough. One must walk the Roads, of course, so it's not instantaneous, but the distance makes up for any other lack.

I think I'll stick to the other version, thanks. Doesn't mean you won't find any takers, though.

I shouldn't have too much difficulty mastering the skill, provided someone can give an explanation. Even without it might be possible, although that would run the risk of taking much longer.

Well, not everyone's making the attempt. Who that leaves in charge I have no damn idea, but some of the infiltrators are worried about blasphemy and not all of us are cut out for mountaineering.

Fair enough! A small warning then. It may amount to nothing, but my cats have heard whispers of further conquest from the Heraclides. Considering previous discussions, I'm sure there are those among us who would wish to nip such a thing in the bud.

Somehow I doubt we're here to stick our noses into human politics as such, but that probably won't help matters if it goes unchecked, no.

With so many off attempting to be heroes, it unfortunately gives them an excellent opportunity. That is if they can organize themselves.

It saves me the strain of casting more illusions than absolutely necessary.
