Okay. Ugh. I give up. I'm tired of this. Is there a way to shoot a bow and arrow and not hit yourself in the face? There's gotta be, I see it on TV all the time.

... Maybe I'm just dumb, I don't know.

It's fine, I don't mind questions. And I can feel that it's cold, but it doesn't really bother me or cause any damage to me.

I don't use crystals for my magic, it's more channeling my own power through something. I'm not entirely mortal. But in terms of being a scholar... it was kind of a nerdy interest that just ended up being something useful once I was told my actual parentage.

That is.... fascinating!

It is unsurprising to hear that you are not mortal, as most beings would find it incredibly difficult to harness raw energy as such without a medium. Crystals are favoured in Eorzea for such things.

Is it untoward of me to ask after your parentage?

It is funny how the things that interest us can define us later on. It is pleasing to hear that it was useful for you!

Oh, I use a medium, it's just not crystals. That's not how it works in my world. ... I mean maybe a few people use crystals as foci, but I don't. And my mom is a goddess of death from a culture far to the north in my world. I don't mind people knowing - we get all sorts here.

A Goddess! My, how fantastic. I... have no earthly clue how that would work actually. Your home life must've been very chaotic.

I have seven siblings, so I imagine we had pretty different upbringings.

Chaotic's a... good word for it. I had a brother, but I didn't know it for a long time... yeah, it's complicated.

Anyway, I've got the door open. It's a mead hall, sort of - a long room with low tables and a wood floor. There's a training area near the back, which is where I am.
