Where is Randolph?
[The general message is surprisingly clipped - Colonel Tick-Tock generally has rather plummy tones over the network, and occasionally sounds like he thinks he's in a dramatic radio production. This sounds terse, with just the barest edge of worry.]

[pauses] I can't ... feel him.

We'll just have to find it and get him out, then.

Be careful down near the bottom--you'll turn into a little kid if you're not careful.

[The Colonel's own tone is very matter-of-fact, practical.]

[He should trust their alpha, should trust their alpha's subconsciousness to call for his pack. He really should. Out of all of them, himself aside, Lyall understands pack the best.]
...if he stays in his dungeon for longer, we'll need a new alpha.
[Only until Lyall returns, but a pack needs an alpha. It just does.
And Tick-Tock is one of the two people who Laughs could see step up to the task. He would, just due to personal bonds, prefer Hajime, but at the same time he also knows that Tick-Tock is much better qualified outside of a war.]

[The older man's tone is chiding - he's aware of the need to plan ahead, but they've only just gotten back. Dungeon doors can take days, sometimes weeks to appear, and he doesn't want to give up hope quite so quickly. The logical part of him knows that deciding on a new alpha isn't necessarily giving up, but it feels like it to him just now.]

If he stays gone for longer, the pack will need a replacement until he returns. Lyall would want that. He wants the pack to be stable, and a pack needs an alpha for stability. It would not do for him to return to a broken pack.

[It's quite likely the Colonel may simply take over, if there are no serious objections - he isn't a particularly big believer in democracy and he has the kind of self confidence (or ego) to assume it's something he should do. It wouldn't be forever, anyway.]

In the wolf sense of alpha, sure, he likes being a dad. But not in a werewolf sense.] You should take that position. [That's just a fact. The dynamics and personalities of the pack clearly point there. Tick-Tock is the most dominant member.]
But we can wait a week. Just not until the jaunt begins, because that might delay it until after the jaunt. [And that would be a long time.]

Now let's get on to the real business at hand. Hajime mentioned something about turning into a child near the ground here, do you know anything about that? Perhaps it won't affect a wolf form ...
no subject
I can easily test that, but if it does affect wolves, I will need another wolf to convince me to come back up on the sunbeam after.
[Because itty him will definitely not trust any human.]

[And with that he'll get moving and show up in the indicated location a few minutes later, already in wolf form.]
no subject
We should find a place it will be easier for you to climb back up if you need to.
no subject
...There. Even a cub should get up there. [He points out a sunbeam not too far away, though getting there will be a bit of a trek.]

[Could be a good sign, could be nothing.
He's going to follow Tick-Tock, finding comfort in this pack excursion. No matter if this brings results, it at least helps with the re-bonding in the face of such an important uniting factor being gone.]

He's relatively quiet as they make their way to the jumping off point, and once they get there he sniffs around for a bit, checks out the slope, judges the grade and how hard it might be for a wolf cub to jump back up.]
If you do revert to a pup, will using the network frighten you? I've had experience communicating with all of you without words, but not a child.
no subject
[That's the simple truth of it.] It never happened to me as a cub, but it's not something I witnessed humans do as a cub, either. [So no positive or negative associations, at least.]

[After another moment of surveying the area, he just goeas ahead and jumps down.
And promptly turns into a most adorable and very confused little cub.
Who, once he's scrambled back to his feet, looks around with a curious but scared stance. Where is he...?]

The cub whines in confusion and comes over towards Tick-Tock, not yet climbing the walkway but definitely moving into the right direction. What is going on, why does this person feel like mom and dad, where is he and where is everyone?]
I cannot get over how cute that icon is
Mexican Grey Wolf cubs are generally adorable with their way oversized ears
He doesn't think that he's encountered a material like this ever before ...nor the material that he is standing on currently, or anything around them. But the other wolf stands securely on it, and right now, he's the only thing here that makes sense.
So after a moment, he starts to try and scramble up on the walkway.]

I'll keep an eye on any dungeon doors that appear.
