This is Hajime, we, ah, did that thing where we're both infiltrating and not infiltrating, and there's some kind of space base out here with a lot of aliens bent on conquering Earth to take care of some bioweapon? I just...don't really know what's going on beyond that.

[Ryo cuts in again.]

And we're mantises! Mantis people are normal here! Not many of them, but enough to be normal! IS AMAZING!

You get infected, and then weird crap starts happening around you--it's hard to hide the symptoms, and it's supposed to be terrifying. Like your worst fears keep manifesting around you and won't stop.

Yeah, there's no question in my overlay's mind that this needs to be stopped. It's one reason he's so onboard with flying combat missions like this.

Don't blame him for callin' this bullshit. I mean... who wouldn't? I'd be thinkin' it was sick and all. That ... doesn't sound like somethin' people here would do.

I'd say it sounds like some kinda ... alien-ified X-whatyacallit virus gone crazy, but how would you even ... make viruses work on aliens? Like, aliens are all gonna have different ... guts and DNA and stuff, if they even have 'em?

That's a good question. I mean, my species doesn't share any real anything with most of the other ones here, and even my overlay is worried, it's jumped around so much. I'm guessing that's part of why we're here.

Engineering, not medicine. Though, like, it does involve making mecha that can use and amplify S.Tech, so it's not entirely unrelated?

I mean, I didn't invent weaponized emotions, that was Dr Eskandar, but it's stuff like... keeping cool and above it all so that you can disappear from sensors, channeling your vengeful sorrow into uncanny accuracy, shrugging off damage through sheer bloody-mindedness, no-selling an attack from an unworthy opponent... stuff like that.
