The Conductors are also new. Current theory is it's the Starmovers making another attempt at saying hi without wrecking the landscape, but that's still just a theory. I'm not sure if even they know what changed.

The SOS we got was courtesy of the local conspiracy nut - now that we have presences here, I think that's Gil - chucking a Conductor's weapon through the time gate that stayed open after last jaunt. What it is he wants help with is anybody's guess, and I don't know if he wanted the Travelers specifically, or just 'whoever might be listening.'
