Check-In [Week 1]

All right, you know the deal. If you're yourself, psychically raise your hand.

Or, uh, if that doesn't make sense to you, just... let people know you're you. I'm myself, obviously, but I have no idea what the hell my archetype or role is. I was infiltrating last time as Ace -

- shit, I need to avoid him. Anyway! Yeah. Uh. ... Yeah...

[His psychic voice just trails off as the awkward overtakes him.]

Is that bad? If you run into the old you, are you guys going to combust or something?
fridgeninja: (hmmm?)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
It's happened before. We don't always infiltrate as the same people twice.

I don't think anything strange has happened. They're real people; we're just not riding along with them this time.

Oh, so the only strange thing that might happen is if they notice you look alike and get weird about it.
fridgeninja: (seal of approval)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
If we actually look alike.

The reason infiltrations look so much like 'us' is a telepathic filter. We don't know enough about how the filter works - or at least, I don't - to be sure if it will still be up for something like that.

I think Thorne-san might be able to explain better.

Oh.

Our own perceptions are filtered so these people look like 'ourselves' to us?
fridgeninja: (considering)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. It's not too different from how we all always speak the native language.

[personal profile] desperate_times_right 2020-09-02 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I figured that part was a psychic thing. I guess I just assumed the filter was on their end.

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably both?

[personal profile] desperate_times_right 2020-09-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's weird to think I could walk right by one of my infiltrations and not recognize her.
fridgeninja: (so that's it)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
It is. But it could also be a good way to avoid an awkward conversation.

I try to look on the bright side.

Admirable, if you can pull it off.

It does take a bit of risk out of the prospect of travelling after this.
fridgeninja: (hmmm?)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
If it still works. We don't know how many of those functions the Arcana have to 'power' and whether they'll keep them running after the game is done.

[personal profile] desperate_times_right 2020-09-02 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
If it doesn't work, I mean. Might not be able to speak the language, but I probably don't look like a known criminal anymore.

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
And we could probably re-build the skills for that kind of thing, if we had to.

Like Minako’s fake ID thing.
fridgeninja: (hey it's all cool)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2020-09-02 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly.
