The irony of this is astounding

Excuse me... ah, I believe I am using this properly?

My name is Hiroshi Yamane. I thought it prudent to inform the rest of the Travellers that a young man - a Prince, I believe - has been attempting to recruit young men and women to serve as priests and priestesses under the idea that the Goddess Hebe will be able to help resolve this incident. I myself have my doubts, but at the same time I feel that if I allow myself to be recruited, I may be able to better understand what else may be going on beyond what we know of the Titans and the Gods themselves. That said, I admit I am still very new to this, ah, "investigating" process, and if anybody should desire that I look into anything in particular as I work towards this endeavor, I am more than willing to listen to suggestions.

Thank you for your time.

[By contrast, the Doctor continues his calm demeanour and simply returns to stating facts.]

Do not apologise unless you mean it. I have been nothing but honest with you. And rather than seeing that maybe perhaps I care about human beings, you have twisted my intentions into somehow holding you back.

This has nothing to do with my trust in your capabilities and has everything to do with the fact that I don't want to see any more people die in this place. There are plenty of ways to contribute that are less likely to end in death.

But you are clearly set in sacrificing your life. That is fine. What is not fine is that in doing so, you are willing to sacrifice another 23 young lives. If you want to die, fine. Go. Die all you like. But if you take others with you, then you are no better than the supposed gods and titans of this place.
