[Felix's psychic voice can be just as biting as his actual one, particularly when he's in a Mood. Which is most days, lately]

I realize not everyone here has had the privilege of living at court, but would it kill you to at least pretend to be competent at dancing?

Honestly, at this rate they're going to uncover the lot of us the next time some of you step onto the dance floor, and I can imagine what a mess that would turn out to be.

[There's a small pause, Felix's thoughts redirecting and gathering themselves. He sounds less angry now, though]

And is anyone else sensing some eerie parallels to their own worlds?

Your terminology is correct yes.

There are machines that are powered by motion, yes. I am not certain what it would take to make a machine that would power an entire planet, however, in theory it would be possible.

It seems more than just that. There are those small circular rooms off to the side which seem to be harnessing the sound of party guests. The architecture is perfect, acoustically, for redirecting all of the noise into the center of the room. I do not think it a coincidence. So it is powered perhaps by movement and sound... and likely more elements as well.

I did not realize that about the acoustics. My knowledge, as meager as it is, lies more in the realm of mechanics and electronics than acoustics.

Interesting. I have not seen anything that would indicate a storage device of some sort for this power, so it would seem that whatever is being done here is used immediately unless I have missed something. I wish I could get down to see some of the workings more closely.

More than half the facility is beneath the mountain - it would not surprise me to find that much of its workings are hidden from us. Someone had mentioned the possibility of a clock or watch - perhaps the dance's motions wind it? The dances do seem calculated to harmonize with the light and motion of the clockwork beneath the dance floor.

But if the sound is also being funneled, Travelers ought to be very careful about what we discuss in those rooms. It's possible that the priests and parliament representatives are listening in.

That would make sense. If the workings stored energy, like a watch's movements, I could see that being this place's purpose.

Yes, we need to be careful. Whatever powerful beings are here will likely not appreciate our interference.

I confess, I am uncertain as to what, precisely, our goal is meant to be. Surely the inhabitants would have provided enough delegates to perform the ritual dance. I sincerely doubt we are meant to merely fill out their numbers. Particularly as so few Travelers have been taught to dance formally. What, then, could we be meant to do here?

The world is kept alive by the passage of the seasons. Surely they do not wish us to stop the masquerade?
