Immediately after the Jaunt

[Waking in a coffin, even one made of so flimsy a material as those dotting Liminal Space, had been disturbing enough. But the eyes. By all the gods and their assorted demons, the fucking eyes.

Those eyes raise a very important question.]

Did we somehow manage to fail that Jaunt in spite of our delightful hosts having a golden fucking opportunity to suck that world dry of everything they might have wanted, or has one of them simply decided to take cues on decor from horrors best left unconsidered?

[No, really, why is Liminal Space a fucking nightmare of eyeballs, and whose fault is it?]

Several of our hosts have highly questionable aesthetics.

So theymight be celebratory creepy eyeballs.

Now there's a phrase I wish I could unhear.

Who were the contenders this time around? I submerged myself before we could ascertain that.

Judgement and Fool. But far too many of them were present. Altair pulled me back out when it became clear that there was excessive meddling.

They still don't seem to grasp what they did wrong there. They think the only problem was that there was a second force at play.

I'm not even sure what the win conditions were. I think we all got sidetracked by the whole world getting destabilized.

Grasping what they did wrong would require them to see mere mortals as thinking beings worthy of consideration, and our worlds as anything more than their playthings. That will never happen - they're nobility writ large. Empathy and responsibility are alien to their nature.

It's possible for a personified idea to get it through their mind that mortal lives aren't toys. The Arcana just seem to lack the maturity to grasp it.

Your reasoning might, but the opinion itself - much as I loathe the Arcana, removing them entirely would leave a vacuum to be filled by much greater horrors.

The cardboard coffins, brass music, and instant wings suggest Judgement. The only thing I can think of for the eyes is that there are certain types of angels that have many, many eyes - that or they're meant to suggest the regular type of judgement. Or both.

I'd lay my money on both. Why instill only one form of creeping dread when you can lean on several at once?

From what I can tell, Judgement does seem like the sort to take that approach.
