Portal Malfunction [Jauntside, shortly after Jaunt start]

Ah. Um. Lyall here, infiltrating as the biology professor here, but I'm also myself. If anyone has any questions about this place, as I am also a local, I can do my best to answer them. The biggest thing I suppose is that there's magic here, and the fae folk. Don't call them that, they get touchy.

Also, I need to ask, is anyone else having trouble opening a portal to liminal space? I, er, I can't seem to get in.

If anyone would be so kind as to stop by my classroom and see if I can use their portal, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah, I can't get in either. It's definitely a half-infiltrating thing. A lot of our liminally created stuff is gonna be inaccessible too, but if it's like Harrogate we'll get it back after the Jaunt.

That... that's going to be a problem. The full moon is in less than a week. I'm a werewolf here as well, and I have... facilities for that, but I'm afraid I might be stronger than what I have here to hold me. Fae-bred werewolves are not the same as undead werewolves.

Yeahhhhhhhhhh. And, uh, I'm a little off-balance myself. Vampires in this world aren't exactly like the ones back home. Same with... whatever I'm supposed to be now.

...Don't use your real names. Come up with nicknames. For the rest of the Jaunt, as far as you know, I'm Valerie Halle. If anyone asks for your name, be sure to say "People call me blah" and use the nickname.

Polite names they accept are The Fair Ones or the Good Neighbors or the Shining Host.

Those quirky freshthing traditions aren't. They're for your own safety. Leave out yogurt for the Neighbors. Salt around the doors, iron in your pockets.

Never make a deal or even promise to do something unless you know for sure what your getting into, and write it down if you can.

As long as I'm doing PSAs, do not mess with the crows. If you get on their good side that's another layer of protection, but definitely don't mess with them. They hold grudges.

It’s a college, right? Summer and Winter have little power here, the movers and shakers are Autumn and Spring.

If you run into Jimothy he looks like a terror drone dressed for Mardi Gras but is mostly harmless.

That depends very much on how they divide power - it might hold true here, but don't expect it to be the same on another world that hosts the Fae.

Sounds like they're aware of the Fair Folk enough to take some sort of precautions.

But not enough to not get involved. Which shouldn't surprise us.

If you're still yourself, you're investigating, if what we call it. Though technically we are "infiltrating" the school, we just call people who have been submerged into another person's live and don't recall being a Traveler as "infiltrated", so we use "investigating" to refer to the regular sort to keep them separated.

This is a Jaunt, and we're here to solve a mystery or a problem here. As it's the first week, and there's nothing outstanding as about to blow up, we'll probably get a better idea of what we're here to do within the next week or two.
