This is Hajime, we, ah, did that thing where we're both infiltrating and not infiltrating, and there's some kind of space base out here with a lot of aliens bent on conquering Earth to take care of some bioweapon? I just...don't really know what's going on beyond that.
[Ryo cuts in again.]
And we're mantises! Mantis people are normal here! Not many of them, but enough to be normal! IS AMAZING!

Ah. Hm. You're aliens? I'm a human, as far as I can tell, and this is a world I've visited briefly before. This is the one that S. Tech comes from - emotions are magic, I won a tournament and almost dated the Principality of Monaco, it was a good time.
We must be a fair bit into the future based on the technology and the fact that they've made contact with aliens. Did you say you were invading?

They're convinced Earth hit them with a bioweapon a couple of years ago, and they're pissed. So we're at a base kind of waiting to get thrown into the fray.

[Ryo definitely seems to love the idea, but Hajime is just going to go right on trying to answer that second point, even if Ryo's going to carry on about pictures in the background.]
From what my overlay's heard, it makes fears manifest and causes some weird body-horror type transformations. Like a more uncontrollable, aggressive version of what you're describing.
[There's a long pause from him, in which Ryo is still pestering him about a picture.]
And give us a little bit with the picture thing; I'm not sure I can get ahold of a camera here without it being kind of suspicious. I'll see what we can do for the time being.

[Hajime has nothing in the face of Ryo's logic. He is feeling a strange mixture of pride and dread, really. Proud that Ryo sorted that out so fast and dread that Ryo's not going to be innocently easy to handle forever.]

There is one seven foot tall mantis with a foot-tall mantis proudly riding on his back and waving at the mirror...and since Hajime is livestreaming it, compound vision is definitely a thing, so good luck to anyone else actually trying to make sense of this image. Hajime knows exactly what he's doing.]

[The feed shakes a bit, as Hajime's now walking, revealing that they're standing in the Mantoid barracks--which looks not unlike a gigantic terrarium with giant praying mantises resting on furniture that looks to be heavily inspired by fallen branches. But it's all fragmented with compound vision, too.]
