They said nothing about not sharing this info, so... [Post-Ball]

Hey, while we're all here and all ourselves?

My... Patron God? Ruling Arcanum? Not sure what the right word here is... gave me a list of what all of the Arcana are like, according to them.

Penuel is a they, by the way. Definitely not a "she." I asked.

Anyway, I'm going to text you the document verbatim before properly archiving it in the Leonardo Memorial Library or whatever.

How accurate is this according to your own perceptions? They seem to have a particular hate-on for ROSE, because to hear them tell it she flagrantly cheats at everything for the lulz - but Judgement strikes me as super duper Lawful - try not to be shocked - while the stunt ROSE pulled for the Vale makes me inclined to think she's not Evil, just Chaotic.

...people have played D&D here, right? Or do I need to unpack that?

PS: If I ever meet the Priestess I'm calling her Io. It's probably a new name for her and I think she'd be delighted.

The Arcana aren't gods. They're more living ideas.

[Having met both, Raidou can say with a decent amount of authority that there is a Difference between the two.]

Judgement doesn't seem to be fond of rule-breakers or rule-benders in general. Magician broke or bent the rules to send us to the Jaunt world Lovers and Devil imprisoned Hermit in to find and release him. Empress and Lovers have claimed people out of turn. And it was infighting between Hermit, Lovers, and Devil which led to Hierophant's death.

[As for D&D, whatever knowledge Raidou has of it is probably via Thorne and/or Gil.]

Judgement, incidentally, has tried their hands at a 'heist.' Magician intimated to an overlay of mine that it didn't go well - I think it was probably Melasurei, a Jaunt we failed.

Hermit did leave. Lovers and Devil went after him, and set a virus on the world he'd left for - a place we call the Grid - that infected many of the people he'd altered while he was there. Hermit was also infected, and then locked away in an isolated corner of the Grid for good measure. Cephas died as a result of all of this, although the exact timing changed after Fortune's revival.

Magician's rescue was later.

Many of the Cryptos - the name for Hermit's altered companions - were killed outright by the virus; during Magician's rescue, it also began altering the thinking of its infectees, of any faction. In theory, Hermit could have been similarly altered had he remained in that body long enough for the virus to properly take hold; what effect that would have ultimately had on his essence is... harder to say.

Nah. I mean, they might feel a little residual guilt for that, but I think that was around the time there was an eldritch god poking around Liminal Space, and they needed to get that asshole out before it did even more harm, so they would've felt justified.

They were probably referring to Moebius, which they do still feel a lot of guilt for. Had a dungeon for it and everything.

If you've been listening to chatter about this world being the same as the "strike Jaunt," Moebius was the world they sent us to after that. It was a world where murder was entertainment, and in theory we were there to shut it down.

In practice, it was a punishment Jaunt. Those of us who weren't Infiltrating got dosed with gases that induced murderous rage and then set on each other, then revived to do it all over again and again and again and hopefully start taking our captors - who were all Infiltrators - down with us. The Jaunt ended when all the Infiltrators were killed. Death and Devil came up with it, but Judgement was one of the ones who pushed for a punishment Jaunt, because of what happened during and after the strike Jaunt. It broke us so badly we collectively lost our memories of it and all the Jaunts that happened up to that point, and I don't think Judgement ever forgave themself for that.

The next two Jaunts weren't necessarily as bad from an objective standpoint, but they broke us further, to the point that most people just... gave up, on the second of those two Jaunts. And that in turn killed Star, who was running that one, which Judgement also probably didn't forgive themself for. They ended up retreating into the worst kind of authoritarian bullshit attitude, like every awful authority figure I've ever met rolled into one. There's a reason a lot of Travelers still hate and distrust Judgement.

she only has I; she's trying to block her own words from being overheard because of Star

Yeah, it was a shitshow.

The dungeon was relatively recent; it took them that long to admit they had a problem they needed help with.

Yeah, Shekinah—ah, that's my name for Priestess—pretty much implied the same thing. I think they were trying to steal the Name to kick the Yellow King dude out of Liminal with?

But it failed, so Priestess had to disguise herself as my spirit bunny and sneak into Questing Country to learn how to make a valence instead and that's how my girl finally stopped the goddamn horrorterrors from sticking their metaphorical tentacles into our dreamstuff.

She was adorably smug about it, too.

Uh, yeah. Sorry. Elder Gods and Old Ones and shit are... kind of unfortunately real. And probably killed Temperance.

More like definitely.
