They said nothing about not sharing this info, so... [Post-Ball]
Hey, while we're all here and all ourselves?
My... Patron God? Ruling Arcanum? Not sure what the right word here is... gave me a list of what all of the Arcana are like, according to them.
Penuel is a they, by the way. Definitely not a "she." I asked.
Anyway, I'm going to text you the document verbatim before properly archiving it in the Leonardo Memorial Library or whatever.
How accurate is this according to your own perceptions? They seem to have a particular hate-on for ROSE, because to hear them tell it she flagrantly cheats at everything for the lulz - but Judgement strikes me as super duper Lawful - try not to be shocked - while the stunt ROSE pulled for the Vale makes me inclined to think she's not Evil, just Chaotic.
...people have played D&D here, right? Or do I need to unpack that?
PS: If I ever meet the Priestess I'm calling her Io. It's probably a new name for her and I think she'd be delighted.

Magician also stole a jaunt out from under the others' noses for the express purpose of freeing Hermit from confinement, so it's safe to say Judgement's not very happy with either of them.
I'm surprised they gave you any cause-of-death information at all, really.

So, Don Orlea, ROSE, Io of Space and Creation, Mei and Hakan Caesar... but also Satan.
[That probably only strengthens zem, but she refuses to not ridicule evil incarnate.]
Against our own worst impulses even the Gods contend, apparently. They... went a little into that they slipped, and are trying to do better. I'm not sure how well this translates into thinking of us as people rather than pawns on a board.
And like, the most important of their keywords is Redemption, with Rebirth. At least, they stressed that the most.
Oh oof. Did she had a good reason to bust out Wolfpupy?

Raidou-san covered some of what led to Hermit needing a rescue - he wanted to quit the game, and Lovers and Devil weren't having it. I'm not sure why Magician decided rescuing him was worth the risk, but she did. The wolf part actually happened during the rescue, somehow.

Can't imagine they're very fond of Fortune, either. Fortune is... Chaotic Chaotic. Her idea of rules for the game was 'fuck it, let's Calvinball.'
no subject
Can't say I blame Felicia. It is the sport of kings. And tigers.
...Speaking of. It says she "fell to idiomatic refutation, and then was revived." What does that look like from our perspective?
no subject
Yeah, but that's not why he'd be using it. Fool tends to show up as a mobile mass of bandages that may or may not actually have a body inside. Too bad Helena's not here to have a conniption over him using that name in particular.
When I first rolled up, Fortune was very, very dead and had been for a long time. Turns out what 'idiomatic refutation' looks like from our perspective is her being tied to two jaunts where her luck ran out - everything that could have gone wrong on them did. We've been back to both of those worlds since. Death seems to have a soft spot for cleaning up those messes.
And then the Arcana nabbed themselves some wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey power from a different jaunt and spent it on redoing an earlier stop - if you ever hear anything about a cattle heist on Mars, that's the one - far enough back that the only dead one was Temperance, since that happened before this round even started. Not sure if Fortune's revival was The Plan or an accidental side effect. If they wanted to revive one of the lost ones in particular they probably wanted Star back, and I can't blame 'em, but they got Miss Felicia Wheeler instead.
Her rules are so riddled with loopholes they're more like guidelines. Also she freely admitted she both couldn't restrict us, because they don't know enough about how we function, and didn't want to, to see what we'd do. She's pleased with the results.

You think she's what, genderfluid and on a femmy kick right now?
no subject
I wouldn't want to speculate about gender; but at least once she talked to me using two identical bodies. On another occasion they weren't quite identical.

I have heard of this D and D. Do you mean to say the Arcana play this as well?
[ He just got a good handle on the card game/divination tool they personified, now he's got to learn about Rogues and WIS checks, too? ]
no subject
No, that's just me trying to wrap my head around why they clash. Alignment is bullshit, but it's sometimes useful shorthand for like. Personality clashes. All I meant was that Penuel likes things to be neat and orderly and well defined while I figured ROSE likes to play messier and looser. That Penny might be confusing Chaotic for Evil.
Freedom versus Order and Selfless versus Selfish aren't the best metrics but they're a starting place. People are more complicated than that.

[ He has no idea where he himself falls on this alignment thing, since most of what he does depends on the circumstances and his own unconventional set of rules. ]

[Having met both, Raidou can say with a decent amount of authority that there is a Difference between the two.]
Judgement doesn't seem to be fond of rule-breakers or rule-benders in general. Magician broke or bent the rules to send us to the Jaunt world Lovers and Devil imprisoned Hermit in to find and release him. Empress and Lovers have claimed people out of turn. And it was infighting between Hermit, Lovers, and Devil which led to Hierophant's death.
[As for D&D, whatever knowledge Raidou has of it is probably via Thorne and/or Gil.]
Judgement, incidentally, has tried their hands at a 'heist.' Magician intimated to an overlay of mine that it didn't go well - I think it was probably Melasurei, a Jaunt we failed.
1/2
...Let me see if I have the timeline right. Psyche and Satan imprisoned the Hermit, which I'm guessing they weren't allowed to do. Everyone else thought he had just flounced, because he's the Hermit. ROSE, because being smart is her thing, figured it out felt the only way she could free him was personally - and hijacking a Jaunt.
And the whole cluster... the whole mess idiomatically refuted Cephas. The Heirophant. Who represents...
Morality.
Yeah. Yeah that would refute the embodied idea of "aren't you tired of going apeshit, don't you just want to be nice."

Magician's rescue was later.

Bad.
No wonder Penuel told me that they had messed up and that they were trying to redeem themselves.

They were probably referring to Moebius, which they do still feel a lot of guilt for. Had a dungeon for it and everything.

[private, protected; cw: Moebius]
presumably you have Psi Protect II?
she only has I; she's trying to block her own words from being overheard because of Star

But it failed, so Priestess had to disguise herself as my spirit bunny and sneak into Questing Country to learn how to make a valence instead and that's how my girl finally stopped the goddamn horrorterrors from sticking their metaphorical tentacles into our dreamstuff.
She was adorably smug about it, too.
no subject
Also you don't just drop that the King in Yellow is real on someone without preamble what the fuck.
[She was going to ask about Questing Country and the Valence but priorities.]

And yes, fuck, I so totally play D&D and if anyone wants to try and needs a GM, I am your girl. I picked up fifth ed when I was in a relatively modern Jaunt world and I've been itching to do something with it.
I can also run Pathfinder and probably Valor too.
[She'll just add privately:]
We. Um. Actually have had people from D&D universes. Barry was a high level necromancer and lich--a really sweet dude, actually, despite all that. And there was a tiefling girl for a while who I think was a cleric and a really dirty, scruffy guy who I think was a wizard. And Barry's sister and brother-in-law who were also wizards. And some older drow guys who I kind of pissed off by arguing that the drow as a whole weren't irredeemably evil just because their nobles suck and their religion is bloodthirsty and messed up--but whatever. Most of them are gone by now.
Except Drizzt. He's a dual-wielding teenage drow ranger who's actually a nice dude who really doesn't want to be evil.
Yeah.
So. Uh. Possibly don't tell him that he's from a tabletop game world? Like I've made my peace with Heinlein being proven right about the whole World As Myth theory, but not everyone deals well with that shit. I still feel like an ass for screwing up on psychic privacy and Jaina finding out that her fam has a bunch of movies about them because of that and that was nearly four years ago.
of course
[And privately, later]
Ohhh shit. Yeah I don't want to canon puncture Drizzt Do'Fucking'Urden's ego; I really don't want to know how he'd take it and I don't want to inflict that on him. I guess if Sailor Moon showed up why can't he.
Thank you for warning me.
