A revelation!
So Cassandra has apparently been getting Magical Mystery Tour beamed into her head as a hint when she did spooky things to the bus. It's a Beatles song, oldies to my parents, psychedelic hippie shit from the 60's.
There's one song in particular on it, 'I Am The Walrus,' that caught my eye BECAUSE we're heading for a space opera. The opening line is:
'I am he as you are he and you are me and we are all together...'
So hey, quick question about QC and known space! Do we know about any hive minded aliens from that 'verse? Cause if not, we might have ourselves an old fashioned bug hunt when we arrive. Or, knowing the Arcana, preventing one!
ETA:
Someone way smarter than me with the Oracle powers that clued us into the Katadors being sweet guys, really just used those powers to ask what we were probably up against.
Roughly:
3 in 10 chance it's the Starmovers trying to make a new Role.
2 in 10 chance it's the Arcana.
3 in 20 it's the Hecatites doing something hinky, same as my guess that there's a new species in town or that something like the Skittles is trying to make a new Role.
1 in 10 it's "who the hell knows," a new role arising naturally, or Backstage breaking from that time ROSE decided fracking a dreamscape for magic was a good idea.
1 in 40 chance it's one of the old powers getting Borgy with it.
The chances are about 1 in 10 to 1 in 5 that the Hecatites are taking advantage of whatever it is that's going on, depending on what tiger they're trying to ride.
Also, it's not fucking Cthulhu you piece of shit Travellers, so we can rest easy on that score.

I can imagine a Robot Rights movement being pretty on brand for this. I can even imagine the Chariot victory being the adoption of a bill of rights, and the Magician one being the technological solution.
Not sure how WELL that works with the song, but...

Let's not be surprised by a Million Machine March, then, but let's also not be surprised by a possible new species with something hive-mindish going on.
...or that looks like it from the outside.

For Walruses, too.

Any social issues that were about to blow up, particularly ones about new species or networking or conformity?

Remember, never been to QC, though I did as much research as I could.

There are a few other races that don't do space travel unless they were kidnapped, since that's the only way anyone's ever gotten to their home planets. That's elves, Spartoi, and... I can't remember the name of the amphibious ones. I think it starts with a V.
I wouldn't expect many Synthetics or Diabolin in Questing Country, but stranger things have happened, I guess. Synthetics are robots, and Diabolin did a lot of the kidnapping of other races. They don't sleep, as a general rule.

Also, literal elves, huh? Would you believe that AWOo never had any of those? The Pixies were the closest but they were really more like winged hobbits. Or winged Lalafell, I guess.
no subject
Literal elves - and not the same kind we came across later, either.

Oh Jesus fucking Christ. No, we don't know about a goddamn Borg but that doesn't mean one can't show up.

Hey, better prepared than going in blind.

angling towards Network Archive Retreival
Is there an easy way for us to crossreference or crosslink that here? I think it's worth mentioning; it's why I keep bringing up the truly, truly outrageous Hecatites.
Re: angling towards Network Archive Retreival
See, the thing about the network is that you need to try treating it like it's a network. Conceive of it like it's a-- message board, maybe. Or hell, an LJ or a Dreamwidth... if they still have online journal sites in your time.
no subject
It's really that simple? Just hyperlink that bad boy?
no subject
But yeah. Just-- treat the network like a message board or an eljay. That's how you bookmark things too.

So if I just mentally copypaste it, I can...

Okay WOW that's an ugly sigil, but it works. Remind me to figure out inline links later.

Them getting a way to artificially dream would be a whole box of Nightmares for everyone else, huh.

They can mess with people's heads and hearts? That's a detail, we need those.
no subject
I can give you details about their culture and technology, but it may be out of date, depending on when within that reality's timeline we land. I'm...familiar with them at the height of their empire, not after its collapse.
no subject
You Infiltrated for that, huh.
I'm sorry.
no subject
It was a...difficult Jaunt, but the Travellers were able to help them strike a blow against the Empire. Not enough to topple it, but enough to help keep hope burning until it began to fall.
no subject
I'm glad it worked. I'm sorry it had to.

I do not like where this is going.

If it's any consolation it is, according to Berne, super likely that I'm wrong and like twice as more likely to be Starmovers trying to do the Harbinger thing right, this time.
Still, the chances she gave for Sudden Hivemind Situation were 1-3 on a twenty sider, - and a 3 in 10 chance it's the Starmovers.
And I've played enough games to know how often a one in twenty chance comes up.
no subject
I still don't like those odds, but we'll just have to be careful. Going in assuming anything would probably end badly for everyone.
no subject
What's your read on the Starmovers? Or on what has come before in QC?
no subject
I do remember that a Starmover's Dreams were messing up the place by creating Transformed Lands and turning people into Harbingers. But they weren't doing it on purpose. Starmovers just think really differently from most of the people we've met, and they and the other Dreamers had no idea how talk to or even recognize each other as people at first.
