crouching_sin: (too tired for thinking)

hello i'm evil ask me anything

[Naoya just sounds tired when he hops on the network.]

Watch out for Qabil when you get back. He's not going to make whatever it is we're planning easy to implement if it doesn't fall under his plans. He also has an ancient Cabalist in his head with him which has not done wonders for his mental state.

Fortunately - or unfortunately, depending on how you think about it - he and I share a relatively similar style of planning. If you're planning on confronting him, run it past me before you can't anymore.

He is very powerful in terms of psychic abilities due to being a Cabalist and his own... unique situation. He's also, for the record, the one who set the fire in the warehouse this past week.

[Raidou doesn't know Naoya well enough to feel comfortable prying, but he does remember his announcement about being Cain.]

It does seem to be a conflict that comes up a lot, although methods obviously differ.

How delicate is the balance of power between Thrasyllus and Qabil?

There is that.

Understandable, given that he's been sharing a body with a spirit for that length of time - especially given that everybody is psychic.

Did Thrasyllus interact with Travelers directly during the original Jaunt, or did he just witness what happened from afar? And does he know anything about the Nation Eaters, or the hellstones?

Jesus Christ, that's a billion times worse than the despair tube Chara found.

Oh. Right. Originally she was going to tell you and Ghalib and Samel about opening up the Shadow District Towers, but she thought better of it after she'd finished shading her memory of it into a crystal.

So, um, right. Day 309 or Day 310, she tested out her hypothesis that the thing that makes you kneel when you're trying to reach the door of one of them wouldn't make her kneel because she's of Malion's line and they're her Towers. And-- it didn't. And she opened one and took a good look around the bottom level and found-- well, this.

[She'll stream a memory of the artifact.]

When she kythed it to see what it was, it sent like this burst of pure despair into her mind and she could barely think for half an hour. She's pretty sure it was an ancient weapon. And it looks like she's right, only on a much smaller scale compared to the big ones than she thought, holy shit.

There was the rod, too. I think maybe it was the trigger to making the despair tube work without kything. She just-- didn't want to test further after the first experience.

But yeah. Though, uh, it's a good thing I'm planning on bringing Joscelin back if we want to use it. [LOOK, sometimes a queen has to give her ex- a despair tube because he wanted an ancient weapon.]

No, I mean. He'll be in Ios. He can give it back to us?

Look, sometimes when you're hiring your ex- and his current girlfriend to help you go back into a Tower with your new boyfriend, because you're trying to investigate shit and you need someone else to help you get around the fact that there's no stairs and the lift's out of juice and you're not going to get your big brother's cultists to help because they'll just tell him everything and for reasons you can't quite put your finger on yet, you kind of want to keep your Tower poking a secret still...

Well. Sometimes you bribe your ex- with a despair tube.

Yeah, no. She likes the Cabalists, but she also... she doesn't distrust them or anything like that? But she does know they're tricky. And that if it came down to orders from Cabal and orders from her, they might pick Cabal.

Yeah, I bet. It must have been so weird for you guys when Anaf suddenly got Anafiel in his head.

Jesus. Could you make a hellstone? Don't do it--! But. Could you make one?

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav 2019-12-24 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but you still need to make gunpowder. Though-- I guess you could use Nectors to get the components you'd need for that when nature didn't provide. It would still take a while to make enough of them...

... but okay yeah, maybe not long enough. Jeez.

...Wonderful. Do they each do all of those things, or do single hellstones have specific functions?

[He's not going to be surprised if one or more of them turn up during the course of the remainder of the Jaunt... assuming there is a remainder of the Jaunt.]
