[Naoya just sounds tired when he hops on the network.]
Watch out for Qabil when you get back. He's not going to make whatever it is we're planning easy to implement if it doesn't fall under his plans. He also has an ancient Cabalist in his head with him which has not done wonders for his mental state.
Fortunately - or unfortunately, depending on how you think about it - he and I share a relatively similar style of planning. If you're planning on confronting him, run it past me before you can't anymore.
He is very powerful in terms of psychic abilities due to being a Cabalist and his own... unique situation. He's also, for the record, the one who set the fire in the warehouse this past week.

And, well. Where have I heard that before?
[He just chuckles faintly.]
A somewhat similar situation to my home world, actually.

It does seem to be a conflict that comes up a lot, although methods obviously differ.
How delicate is the balance of power between Thrasyllus and Qabil?
no subject
Qabil has the physical power - Thrasyllus can't take over unless Qabil has vacated the body by astral tripping or something similar. He also has the ability to tell him no, but he's lived with a spirit in his head for over twenty years. The personality has... warped, somewhat. Not that he was ever cute and innocent, but there have been definite influences.

Understandable, given that he's been sharing a body with a spirit for that length of time - especially given that everybody is psychic.
Did Thrasyllus interact with Travelers directly during the original Jaunt, or did he just witness what happened from afar? And does he know anything about the Nation Eaters, or the hellstones?

They're weapons of mass destruction. Make people stop breathing in a ten kilometer radius if they're not saturated with right-think. Cavasophize everyone in a kilometer's radius. Nullify psychic bonds inside a radiuso rwhen crossing a boundary. They're a few meters big.
[He'll just let that sink in before he moves on to Nation-Eaters.]

So, um, right. Day 309 or Day 310, she tested out her hypothesis that the thing that makes you kneel when you're trying to reach the door of one of them wouldn't make her kneel because she's of Malion's line and they're her Towers. And-- it didn't. And she opened one and took a good look around the bottom level and found-- well, this.
[She'll stream a memory of the artifact.]
When she kythed it to see what it was, it sent like this burst of pure despair into her mind and she could barely think for half an hour. She's pretty sure it was an ancient weapon. And it looks like she's right, only on a much smaller scale compared to the big ones than she thought, holy shit.

But yeah. Though, uh, it's a good thing I'm planning on bringing Joscelin back if we want to use it. [LOOK, sometimes a queen has to give her ex- a despair tube because he wanted an ancient weapon.]

Look, sometimes when you're hiring your ex- and his current girlfriend to help you go back into a Tower with your new boyfriend, because you're trying to investigate shit and you need someone else to help you get around the fact that there's no stairs and the lift's out of juice and you're not going to get your big brother's cultists to help because they'll just tell him everything and for reasons you can't quite put your finger on yet, you kind of want to keep your Tower poking a secret still...
Well. Sometimes you bribe your ex- with a despair tube.

Which Cabal - or anyone there - probably should not have.

I'm more worried about things like guns. Teke shields could deal with some of that, but not forever. They don't need psi, they're new and terrifying, and with enough you could overwhelm people. There's iron, and I know how to make that sort of thing work as well.

... but okay yeah, maybe not long enough. Jeez.

On the one hand, Qabil is dangerous to have around. On the other hand Chara seems to be listening to his advice and doing relatively well at winning people to her side so he's probably not the biggest thing to be concerned about right now.

[He's not going to be surprised if one or more of them turn up during the course of the remainder of the Jaunt... assuming there is a remainder of the Jaunt.]
