Fun with Infiltrator Redux
Jan. 10th, 2020 12:48 amyouandyoualoneWith Naoki's help, I believe I have hit upon a way to convert Investigators directly into half-Infiltrators, without the intervening step of being a full Infiltrator.
Both he and I are already half-Infiltrating, but if someone who is otherwise Investigating would want to be a test subject for this, then we might have a chance of them becoming an ally among the people of whichever Spire we end up in. That is to say, as far as we can tell, anyone thus converted would become whoever suited them best within a certain vicinity. And since if they were suited to anyone in Fallenheart, they would have already been Infiltrating...
It merits trying, I think.

Watch out for Qabil when you get back. He's not going to make whatever it is we're planning easy to implement if it doesn't fall under his plans. He also has an ancient Cabalist in his head with him which has not done wonders for his mental state.
Fortunately - or unfortunately, depending on how you think about it - he and I share a relatively similar style of planning. If you're planning on confronting him, run it past me before you can't anymore.
He is very powerful in terms of psychic abilities due to being a Cabalist and his own... unique situation. He's also, for the record, the one who set the fire in the warehouse this past week.

I'm in London - sorry, Londinium - and hanging around the palace and there's a lot of hustle and bustle here. The High King is abdicating in favor of his nephew and there's gonna be a big ceremonial gizmo for that in a few weeks. Which experience tells me is the thing we will not set on fire, right?

Peregrine Me was talking to the hot demon that Ca... uh, to the Prince of Chess and he made them an offer: he'd get them an acre of land in Hell in exchange for them to serve in the Army of Hell. Oh and it comes with a Dignity too. Either a fancy-ass trident, Nobel laureate-level knowledge in a scientific field, or, like, throwing fire around, though obviously the last one is the worst one. Honestly, I'm pretty sure Peregrine Me would have taken the offer in a heartbeat if I hadn't been there to be their conscience--as it is, I managed to get away with an 'I'll think about it and get back to you.'

Jan. 16th, 2019 06:15 pmyouandyoualoneSince we returned to Harrogate, some seven Jaunts ago, I have upon occasion been subject to disquieting nightmares of possible futures--as I believe some others of us have as well. I had another such dream this last night.
In this dream, I stood watching a black river slowly ice over and I knew, I knew that when the ice stretched from bank to bank, the palpable sense of wrongness I felt at the advent of the ice would become irreversible. There were shapes frozen under that ice and those who surrounded me had forked tongues; they were hissing threats at one another. When I tried to warn them of the ice, they turned away.

Tower's fucking dead. Like, apparently for-reals dead. Which, having had a chat with Magician a little while back, I think that exactly how big of a fucking deal this is cannot be stressed enough. And apparently Travellers did it, and the other Arcana know that.
Which, from what I've heard about that, means we're really fucking lucky not to have Judgement coming down on us all like a one-ton sack of feathers and outrage. They - like, the Arcana in general, not just Judgy - sound like they're only planning on punishing whoever actually did it. But worst case scenario, like-- Moebius Junior or something? Might still happen if people don't come forward or get caught or what the fuck ever.
I'm not down, personally, for selling people out - and seriously I don't have a fucking clue who was this shit-headed - but. Guys. For fuck's sake.

The new one first: Allura-san brought up how often we've been to space, and I had the beginnings of a list trying to narrow down possible connections between jaunt worlds. I know some of the conntections are obvious - space and Questing Country, Bando and the mermaids - but if anyone's thought much about which Earths might be the same or different, that would help some too.
As for the older resource, it occurs to me that with Fortune back in play, my attempt at information on the Arcana needs updating. Does anyone have any insight into what she's up to? There's a few other holes I never managed to fill in, mostly whether Hierophant had an alias and what a few of them have in mind to do if they win, but Fortune is the biggest question mark at the moment.
Once I've got things updated I'll leave copies in the library, and on the intranet if I can get a hold of a computer for a while. The Arcana list is already on the network, and the other one will be joining it.

Places for the finale
Aug. 11th, 2016 11:16 pmawitchdiditAlright, everyone. Something I've noticed a lack of in the archives of this network is Investigator organization when the Jaunt reaches a climax. I'll admit I'm not a team player by nature, but in the interest of this not turning into an utter clusterfuck, I thought we could try actually planning some things. We've got a good amount of data on what the Solomon Ring does, what Manticore is up to, and as far as I'm aware a general consensus that we don't want the latter controlling the former with an iron paw. Not to mention, we have two Trumps sitting in playing the roles of King Hound-of-the-Baskervilles-was-garbage and Queen How-is-The-Redheaded-League-even-a-mystery.
Now, here's my thought - we can either break the Solomon Ring, attempt to seal it, or attempt to wedge it open, all of which can be done through alteration to its physical makeup in very specific ways. It is a magic circle, related to those found in the Ars Goetia, and therefore relies on precise usage of materials and geometry to function as intended.
Ideally, we do this stealthily, very shortly before it is publicly opened, so that Manticore has no time to react or stop us. However, consider the floor open to alternate strategies or even objectives. I consider myself a technical consultant on this, at best.

So, about that royal family. Plot twist, they appear to be Perry and Mina.
Double plot twist. They're not.
I only talked to the queen, but I remember Mei's speech patterns from Misericordia - she spoke in threes then and she's doing the same thing now. I'd bet anything the king is likewise Emperor Emperor. No idea if another of our hosts might be poking around or not, but anyone who's talked to one of the two of 'em might want to check for mystery tattoos.
Minako's still hooked up to the Hotel Redwood Liminal. I might end up passing on more updates for her, or she might get things sorted out herself and be able to report back - don't know yet.
