[There's a sense of mild panic flashing onto the network.]

Anyone else with giant lizard wings-- be careful out in the sun. 'less y'all wanna risk gettin' turned back into a statue.

[And then it cools off a little, sounding calmer as he continues.]

If anyone needs a hand with bein' a Stonefolk, I got a whole heap 'f info on 'em dumped in my head, an' I don't doubt other people do too, so make sure t'ask if y'all ain't sure on somethin'.

But I s'pose the better question is, who have we got kickin' 'round the Investigatin' side a' things? This is Kinji, fer all the new folks, I'm up on Thunder Mountain.

We're still assuming that the liminal space before a Jaunt represents the Arcana competing in it, yes? I know someone's mentioned this earlier, but it definitely needs to be highlighted-- I think it's pretty obvious this time that the contest will be between Chariot and Tower. The giant wooden horse running through a thunderstorm really couldn't be more blatant. For once.

[He's not great at understanding symbolism, but damn if this wasn't an easy one.]

So if that's right, it'll be a contest of motion and persistence, versus dramatic change and catastrophe. I think it's easy enough to decide who we want to support, in this case. We'll just have to find ways to make sure we see what sort of conditions make for a win for each ideal.

Any ideas for what to look for and how to keep things from devolving into a catastrophe? Those seem to happen a lot when we're around, unfortunately.

...if we ever get sent back to Pogtopia, whatever we do; stop my Overlay. He lied to everyone the entire time, and he wants nothing more than total control of both worlds. He's also willing to go to whatever lengths necessary to achieve that control.

He knew about Nevermore the entire time, and supported the attacks on the human world up until someone got killed.

He also knows about us Travelers and that we have powers not native to either world.

He... does not believe in allowing people real freedom.

So hey. Everybody. Tell me what all our asshole patrons had to say about Moebius. I already talked to Malik and Matthew, so I got their stories. Already know that we killed one of 'em, so Moebius was a punishment, presumably for that. Death was behind the whole doing-things-over part, and Devil was behind the whole kill-all-your-friends part.

Also there's the tidbit that Lovers claims they don't make the places they send us to, they just pick 'em. Which is interesting. Unless she was lying, though I'm guessin' she wasn't.

But mostly I wanna hear if any of the rest of you talked about Moebius with your Trump. I got most of my memories of that Jaunt back, but not much of anything from that whole thing we apparently did to earn it, and I'm thinkin' that's gonna be pretty important. I'm hopin' somebody else can give me somethin' to go off of to jump-start workin' on that.

Besides, nobody ever talks about this shit, and we're down to too few people who lived it to let people forget about it.

That was just...weird. I mean, I was myself and all, but I was someone totally different. Is it always like that, having your head messed with and everything changed around?

Anyway, I'm just glad to be Han Solo again, instead of Captain Solus. And I never thought I'd say it, but I'm happy to be back in liminal for now.

Hokay, so, I think it's safe to say we're getting into the last round of these shenanigans, which presumably means regular 'being ripped out of Liminal Space and possibly dumped into someone else's life' service will be restored shortly.

I'm gonna scale back cool-stuff offers accordingly, but that doesn't mean lightcycles and fancy magic tattoos are completely off the table. I'm thinking four for lightcycles and... the usual one tattoo, since God knows what these guys are gonna throw at us once they're done, or how soon. If it turns out we still have a while before the next jaunt yet, I'll consider a second.

As usual, first come, first served.

[Somewhere during the Dockside portion of this Liminal Space...

The entire network--shudders. Voices and feeds abruptly cut out, then flicker back to life, then out again. In and out, in and out. Finally, the network stabilizes, though it still wavers, thoughts not getting through as clearly as they ought. Also, there's now an unfamiliar voice in everyone's head.

Well. Sort of unfamiliar. It's still Rosalie's. But it's also not her at all.]

Wow, you guys really went all out on this one, didn't you? But you should've spent a little more on your security~

[Those wanting to find Rosalie, or whoever she is at the moment, can find her lounging on an out-of-the-way rooftop. Her current overlay will only be familiar to the few remaining veterans, as it comes from a long-ago Jaunt: the Spark.]

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Hey, guys? I just came back from this weirdass other place. I'm pretty sure it was like that Tree Hotel that Minako went to back in Newport. I couldn't access the Network or anything. It looked like this:

[And Thorne will stream her memory of looking over the room:

The room is small, intimate. There is no sign of a way in or out. Ping-pong balls crunch underfoot, and empty giftboxes, meticulously wrapped and ribboned, are lined up against one wall, while a humming wall of server blades are racked on the opposite wall. A high-backed, gilt chair with red velvet cushions faces an ornate, full-length mirror, and beside the chair is a mug of steaming hot chocolate on a tiny side table, steaming invitingly from beneath a layer of fifteen half-melted marshmallows.

The stream ends.]

So yeah. That was a thing. Also, uh, I Interfaced with the servers there and they had this to say:

Active Liminal Layers: 4.0
Online Travelers: 84
Online Guests: 1
Offline Travelers: 485

So. Uh. I'm guessing that 'offline' Travelers are the ones in dungeons, but wow. That's a lot of us in dungeons.

This is Drizzt Do'Urden, and I have a simple question: what does one do in Liminal Space beside read books? It is too small to have anything left to explore, unless one tries to scale the wall.

[He does not sound frustrated, but in a good general mood. Drizzt seems more amused about it than anything, and he figures someone will have a good answer for him.]

I ask because I am afraid boredom begins to strike at my heart with my blades still for so long, and I need something more to combat it properly. Perhaps one of you has advice?
thornsofmalkav: (concerned)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
So, uh, is there, like, anybody here who knows medicine? Or at the very least someone else who knows first aid? Healing magic won't work. Magic anything won't work. It's kind of complicated. Or maybe not that complicated?

Well, okay, basically it's that Imriel picked up this passive power negation thing when he was in Newport, which means that anyone in his immediate vicinity loses their magic. And you can't cast stuff from a distance on him either. Which is a problem, because that's, like, the main way people are healing things here.

(Oh, right, if you don't know, Imriel's one of the three youngest Travelers. You'll be able to recognize him because he's the only ten-year-old we have that's not Japanese.)

Anyway, uh, I found that stuff out today because I had to patch him up and my regular way of healing people didn't work and I had to bust out the kit. And then I thought, 'oh shit, what if I infiltrate next Jaunt, who's going to patch him up if he gets hurt then?'

So. Uh. Hopefully there's one of you? Otherwise, I'll see if I can teach people what I know just in case. I took classes from the Red Cross a few years ago, if you want my first aiding cred.

[ Steph's voice is oddly flat for her, tone carefully controlled. ]

Okay, so... now that we're all back together and everyone knows who they are again... or, well, most of us, anyway...

Who here was a Manticore Knight? And do any of you know what the hell happened to Tim when he was infiltrating? There weren't that many of them, he was one of them, and his body was full of bullet holes in their morgue, so someone has to know.

Uh, hi. I'm Jolie. And I'm not screaming at you all this time. Sorry about that. I was just kind of scared and stuff, and didn't know what I was doing, since I'd kind of just showed up and all. But now I do, so no more yelling.

Only now I kind of have a question? And I wanted to ask as many of you as possible, so I guess I'm doing it here, and like this, even if it's kind of creepy still that people talk in my head. But it's not a bad talking in my head, and everybody says you can't do anything to me with it, so I'd better get used to it, right? And no better way to get used to something than to do it.

So anyway, the question, right. Do these Trump guys ever... change what you were before you got here? Like, your abilities or appearance or something? Besides the mark things. I've seen a couple of those. I mean like other things.

Has that happened to anybody?

[Shortly after the return to Liminal Space, there's screaming over the psychic network again. Surprising no one, it's coming from Jules.]

WHAT IS THIS WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING, I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON, I DIDN'T DO THIS!

[And surprise, there's a visual, since someone's using Sensory Livestreaming in his panic! Jules is in a bathroom in the Workshop, angling around at some mirrors to look at his own back. Because this is what he's seeing through his own eyes, his Mask isn't a thing--he looks like his normal purple gargoyle self, horns and tiny wings and all.

What is not normal is the fact that between the wings, a tattoo starts. It's a waterfall topped with twelve stars! And down the waterfall is a sunglasses-wearing pink pelican surfing down the waterfall on a heart-shaped shield with the symbol of Venus inscribed on it. The waterfall then segues into three very large roses, which are much, much lower on Jules's body, and...

...yeah. That's his butt. The stems of the roses look like they might continue onto something, but he dropped his tail in his panic. In fact, he's waving the limp tail around in front of his face now. There are thorns around the base of said tail]

I noticed the thorns, and then this, and WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!

So I guess most of you went to Italy or somethin'. The rest of us went to Plathville, on Belljar island. Guessin' some of you will remember that place. I did. For anybody who don't remember it, basically an island with little city where you showed up from some other world and got stuck there forever. Big-ass forcefield kept everybody in, even underwater, and supplies got ported in from somewhere. We showed up, grumped around and made people angry cuz we were stuck differently from their kind of stuck, then disappeared again without actually solving the mystery, or whatever we were supposed to do there.

It's changed a lot since then. It was pretty much abandoned not long after we all vanished-- and we did actually vanish, even the ones who didn't show up in liminal again after, from the sound of it. There were riots and shit, they burned the Hotel California out, and everybody wound up getting evacuated.

Whole place looked like some kinda surveillance state shit. Cameras everywhere, dimensional portal in the basement of the hospital controlled remotely, underground bunkers with office desks and training grounds, the works. Not sure if the evacuation was an end to the experiment or whatever it was, but might've been.

Anything else I missed that the rest of us should know? I got out of contact with a lot of the kids exploring around the island, but I heard back from some of you.

[Raidou generally avoids contacting the network. Responding to other people, yes, but on the whole, he prefers not to use it unless he absolutely has to. He also prefers not to discuss his own abilities - well, ever, but certainly not over an insecure psychic network the way he's about to do. So there's a slight edge in his mental 'voice,' one that seems to suggest that he's deeply uncomfortable even making this announcement.]

I hate to disturb you all, but I need to summon a particular spirit in the next few minutes. Ordinarily, it wouldn't be an issue, but given our current circumstances...

[He breaks off then, going silent for a moment. He can practically hear Matthew's response to this already.]

At any rate, if you sense a large burst of magic from the northeast, that's probably him. And if you happen to see a gold dragon flying overhead afterwards, that's... also him.

Well, we found an airlock underneath the hospital.

[Riddick even graces the network with a sensory livestream view of it, through his eyes, including occasional views of Jules or Matthew or some other member of the little exploration party in his peripheral vision. Have fun with the colors and Riddick!vision quirks, like intense motion sensing and heat halos.]

Found a generator a while back, but it only powered one house. The old network that used to be up ain't there anymore, so we can't get to the communication archives until we find where that came from and power it back up.

Anybody else got anything interesting? Know I've seen a bunch of you around the city, I'm sure we ain't the only ones who found somethin' funny.

Okay, kids. Don't know how many of you know shit about livin' where there's no roads or pre-packaged dinners, but this is what I've been doin' half my life. So listen up.

First thing we need is water. Found that. It's south-east from where we landed, looks like this.

[And he gives them a livestream of the brook he's found trickling out to the ocean proper. It's not like your normal livestream, in that Riddick's vision is tinged bright violet, seems to focus mostly on heat and movement, and if you can parse through both of those things, you can tell it is completely unhampered by the darkness.]

Nobody come down here yet, though. There's predators on this island, or there were last time I was here, and most of 'em are nocturnal. So stay put and stay together until dawn, much as you can. Might even be smart if we did our sleeping in liminal space, until we find some sign there's still people here.

Second thing we need is food. There's animals here we can hunt, and probably some edible fruit and shit, but we've got liminal space, too. Anybody who can make food we can actually eat, do that. I'm gonna pop into liminal space to give it a shot myself, here, in a minute.

There used to be people on this island. Used to be, it was kept protected by a force field thing. I think that's probably still there, so don't go swimmin' out too far, or you'll hit it. Nasty shit happens when you do that. Ain't seen any sign of the people yet, but that don't mean they ain't here somewhere. Think that should probably be thing number three. Findin' out where the people went to, if they're still here somewhere. Might be a good idea to start searching this place in the morning.

Okay.

This looks pretty weird for a Jaunt, huh? I don't see most of the people I expected to, or anyone native. It's almost like we were shipwrecked without a ship, right?

Anyway, this kinda thing usually goes badly pretty fast in books and movies, so I think we should get organized early. Everyone who can hear me, let's please gather up and figure out who's here, what we can do, and what we're supposed to be doing. I haven't seen any natives or people acting like natives at all, so I don't think we have to worry about being suspicious.

The first thing I think we want to worry about is who's here and what we know how to do. I've never even been so much as camping, but I do know how to coordinate people when we're exploring. Got all kinds of magic stuff to do things like mapping, detecting monsters (which'll probably work on like, animals too), giving information to and from people really fast, and uh, literally helping anyone with anything. I don't totally understand the how on that last one, but basically anything you can do I can figure out a way to help.

Oh, and if we can't find food or water easily, I can turn into a Synthetic and save a little bit of that.

So yeah, sorry this isn't the most professional thing, but I think we should all check in and coordinate stuff here, so we can figure out what we're going to do...

[She forgot to mention her own name, though.]

((OOC: And oh yeah, feel free to use this post to ICly organize exploration groups if you aren't doing that elsewhere/off-camera.))

So somebody wanna tell me where the Trumps were hidin' this Jaunt? My other self in there was kinda on the sidelines of whatever action went down, given the whole havin'-a-baby thing, and I don't remember talkin' to anythin' that might fit a Trump in disguise.

[Little does she know... still, it's a place to start the conversation for various interested parties, right? Including herself. Because she's not actually even sure which Trump marked her.]
