[ Sorry Lupa, he's the kind of man who listens in on other conversations. At least it wasn't a filtered one. He himself is keeping his knowledge of the Song a secret. But he is puzzled as to why he was not so affected as well. Alcuin successfully used the Song on Altaïr when he taught him. He knows it works. What changed? Had he changed, somehow? At least he can be thankful his cover was not blown. It's hard to hide being affected when you're arrested and gaping wordlessly. ]

Good privacy shields might be helpful against it, if the 'stay the hell out of my head' aspect of locking down private conversations works on the same basis as blocking something coming in from the outside. But that only helps those of us who are ourselves. [And not even everyone, at that.]
